O/S Daily Tuesday 15 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry - air is warmer than it has been in the past few mornings - but it was very warm here yesterday and today is forecast a bit hotter.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO's - roast pork, mash, roasties, carrots, broc, yorkshires and gravy - I just prepped a bit more veg as not quite enough, but lovely and easy meal. I also managed to get the meat sauce for lasagne going whilst the dinner was cooking, so made a lasagne for tonight which is in the fridge. Hairdresser coming tonight so it will be an easier dinner just to put in the oven once she's cut my hair.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
I had a dreadful night's sleep so I am glad to be up and about even though it is still early. I just kept waking up every half an hour to an hour so the night went on forever it felt.
I managed to find some brighter clothes and got dressed for most of the day yesterday. I am planning on doing the same today as I felt more prepared. I'm not expecting any visitors but you never know. Saying that, my grandchildren are coming here after school as their mum has her first day at college to start her degree course.
Lee came home from college very upset. He thinks his new tutor doesn't like him and it sounds like there is a bit of bullying going on. He doesn't know if it is because he's trans or because he's autistic or just a personality clash. I am trying to draft an email to support services to nip it all in the bud before he drops out of his course. It's so difficult as he has had 6 months off and now he has to cope with all of his routines being changed, new people on his course and of course the college itself has changed due to Covid. I don't want to go in all guns blazing but it was hard when I saw his face yesterday. Hopefully as he has a couple of days off now he will calm down.
I am going to make ham and cheese pasta for me and the kids and Steve said he will fend for himself as he doesn't like pasta....except for spaghetti, lasagne, tagliatelle. He said it reminds him when he was single and living on pennies, he had to eat so much pasta as it was cheap and filling. I don't mind really as he is so good at eating all my experiments in the kitchen. We had sausage and leek pie yesterday, it was delicious.
Ok, I am off to feed the dogs as they are circling me like wolves waiting for their breakfast. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's another nice morning, and I think it's going to be warm. We're taking Dgs to the park to feed the birds and will take a bit of a picnic, and a ball to play with. Might as well while the weather's good.DGd didn't come for tea yesterday, she had some homework to do, so she'll come probably tomorrow.Yesterday we did more tidying in the garden, and DH went to the tip with stuff we'd pulled out. He likes to get bags for the tip out of the way while it's dry, doesn't like putting wet bags in the car.Nels, I've pinched your idea about the BBC food mag, and the 5 for £5, I've seen the offer before when I've occasionally bought the mag and you spurred me on!!The quiz is on tonight, I hope it continues, it's the only social life we've got!!Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A lovely start to the day and forecast to hit 25 deg again today. I will get a few jobs out of the way this morning and make the best of the mini heatwave this afternoon by sitting out with my book. Cooler from tomorrow they say.
The vet bill yesterday once again brought tears to my eyes. I honestly don't know how they justify their prices. I shall be coming round with my begging bowl before long! It was the usual steroid injection, plus some new to Sparkle drops. Add a few antibiotics and that will be £62 please! I have to go back with her in a month to check on progress. I had to smile to myself when I went in his surgery and I was greeted with "Hello gorgeous how are you today". Sadly this wasn't aimed at me but Sparkle! He's the same vet who persevered with her problems when she was first taken to the cat rescue and grew very fond of her.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning everyone
Wet and miserable here but very mild. Yesterday was overcast but dry and quite warm, I spent an hour in the garden when I got home and enjoyed the fresh air.
It seems that we are getting ready for closing schools again or at least going to blended learning as there are lots of cases of Covid in the area, a few staff at other schools have tested positive, worrying times again.
I'm going out with DD for something to eat later, just us which will be nice.
Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX14 -

Morning everyone
Was lovely and warm here yesterday and meant to be the same today.
I don't start work until 12 today - I have the long-awaited dentist appointment this morning. They rang yesterday to do a risk assessment and for me to pay over the phone. I don't expect to get anything done today but hopefully it'll set things moving.
I ordered myself some new pillows from Amazon last night as I keep waking up with a sore neck. Also a V shaped one - I had one years ago when my girls were tiny and remember it was really comfy for sitting up in bed reading.
Well I'd better get some jobs done - hope everyone has a good day12 -
Morning all
Sunny here, moving day today, only for a pump out.
My DD2works in a school that is 80% BAME, they have cases of Covid.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.16 -
Morning all, we are likely to have another lovely sunny day. Yesterday I decided to put my big girl knickers on and get on with things and that worked. Well it worked a bit at least.
Today we are back to local limits. Nobody is allowed to visit any other household unless they are already in a support bubble. Not even visit and stay in the garden. Infection rates have shot up here. I really had hoped to see a few friends but that will have to be put on hold. I think we might be allowed to do something like a socially distanced outdoor activity, not sure, but that's not really what I was hoping to do, I just wanted to sit and chat. I knew this was coming, it was announced at the weekend or the tail end of last week and it is probably the reason for my wobble yesterday.
Dumpling, poor Lee, that must be very difficult for him and it is hard to know the best way to support our older children sometimes.
TA I loved our vet, when I took my first little dog for her first checkup his first words were 'Oh, isn't she pretty!' Hope Sparkle picks up quickly. Just noticed that sentence has first in it three times, the sentence construction police will be after me.
I hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all
Dry sunny and warm here already its going to be another scorcher today, I took the dogs to the park yesterday and it was far too hot they kept running to the shade after a while we I gave up and we just sat in the shade with a bowl of water for the dogs and just watched the world go by for a while, we took them again about 7 last night when it was much cooler, will do the same tonight i think.
I have a dark wash on the go which I will hang out and I have emptied the dw and reloaded it with the cups etc from this morning.
I am going to have my nails done at lunchtime this will be the last time for a few weeks as my nail lady is having her implants removed next week, she has paid privately to have it done as she thinks they are making her ill, I can completely understand her wanting them out if she thinks they are affecting her health but it does make me cross that she can have her op and that there is no news at all on mine !! Money talks
Jacket spud for dinner tonight I have some ham to use and some cheese, dd will have cheese and beans and I will do a salad with it, nice and easy.
Right better get on with my day, have good days all xx13 -
Morning all, I thought I'd try and be a bit earlier today. It's going a bit cloudy now, hope it clears again, I felt so much better yesterday when it was sunny and I could sit in the garden. I also went for a walk and ended up sat in the park, sadly on my own as we are not allowed to meet anyone but there were lots of dogs antics to watch, oh and the 5 lunatics who came roaring round the corner on motorbikes and a quad bike over the grass. I heard the quad as I was walking off, there is a bend so I stood still not knowing exactly where he was, he had to take evasive action when he appeared, stupid stupid ladForgot to say last week I am also getting the good food deal, thanks for the heads up Nelski
I'm also looking at the slob thread and downloaded 1 of the books, & I've come to the conclusion that it's the menfolk who are slobs not me! ( ok I may have a few slobby habits
)
Dumpling hope Lee feels better after a couple of days off.TA , hope Sparkles meds do the trick.Right, off to sort the washing , have the best day you all can x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13
