I’m wondering if you can wheel the bike with the trailer attached through to someone’s back garden where they need you to do the work, i.e., is the trailer narrow? If so you’ll always have all your tools to hand, so better in that way than a van! Plus, no problems with parking.
(PS At our local tip at the moment you’re not allowed to visit on foot or on a bike, only in a motor vehicle because of the covid).
would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

I think it sounds very sensible and well thought through. Starting with a smallish outlay to see how it goes and maybe build up business. I also like the novelty of it.One thing that occours to me is insurance. Do you need any sort to cover you or a home owner? If you are using a home owners equipment and you hurt yourself with it they may be liable which would devastate a pensioner unless they are covered though their house insurance. And also it may be a risk to you if it's poorly maintained. This isn't a downer on your idea just something to be looked into.My friend started a small odd job business, got a beautifully decorated and signwritten van and when work stopped for a while (forgotten why, illness or some such) he still had to pay for the van and it finished what started as a good business. But there is also an idea there. Can you get the trailer painted with something unique and your name/phone number to make people smile?Having said that I have a friend who does this. Retired optition, she goes to gardens on a bicycle. I'll ask her when I see her but may be too late for you.And yes, getting down some side alleys on bungalows might be a problem. They are notoriously narrow and usually a kitchen step across the middle. You may be able to get it through the garage but there is often a biggish step over the door sill at the back. You may need to make a folding, v shaped ramp. Something to cross when you get to it.Do let us know how you get on. I'm facinated now.
