We are due to fly to Faro in Portugal but because of FCO advisory we won't have valid travel insurance. Am i entitled to a refund ? I would also be happy with a voucher, however the easyjet website only allows me to rebook another flight (because we are within 14 days of departure), and these are coming in at almost double what we originally paid.

Thanks

No you wouldnt be entitled to a refund. The government guidelines on return arent Easyjets problem.

Your options are to change the flight, hope they cancel it before Saturday, speak to your travel insurance, or simply fail to turn up at the airport on Saturday and lose the money.

The flight is going so you're not entitled to a refund from Easyjet, nor a Section 75 claim (if you were thinking of going down that route).

Have you tried looking at transferring to another route?  Maybe you might like to go to say Madrid next year so maybe you could transfer your 2020 Faro booking to a 2021 Madrid booking without having to pay extra?

My travel insurance is with Aviva (Through HSBC), and will cover travelling against the guidelines with the exception of repatriation. Not sure if I have one of the better policies, or whether it's generally a rule across the board.

In Portugal, an EHIC card will be as sufficient as a travel insurance policy for medical purposes.

You have no right to a refund from Easyjet, as you booked a seat and the flight is presumably still going ahead.

What absolute nonsense, try getting repatriated with an EHIC Card !!

I read  MEDICAL PURPOSES not as repatriation ,where in the post does it say that?

Did I mention repatriation? If you get stuck, you will have a right to re-routing and reasonable care (including accommodation), so repatriation is not necessarily an issue for now.

I would be more worried about the medical side and my post specifically covered this part.
