I recommend you do more research before buying any more animals. There is a lot of suffering out there and a lot of cruelty and a lot of reckless breeding with no though to welfare or health of the puppies.jmb1 said:

A backyard breeder then. For any future dogs you get, this is not good practice, they will not be responsible and ethical breeders.jmb1 said:
I meant by that, not a professional breeder, but a private breeder who has bred their own pet twice. It was indeed actually via contact on a private Facebook group, but, we went and visited the litter at the owners house with the pups mum present, being the owners dog and have all their details including where they work in the family business and kept in touch since about them microchipping, first jab, sending development pics etc so genuinely don't think we've been scammed or it's a puppy farm. Really hope not!donnac2558 said:I am thinking Facebook or Gumtree perhaps which also could be a puppy farm.Quite a few threads recently of people putting deposits down from sellers on the above only to find the puppy sold elsewhere and no refund of the deposit as bank transfer.
Anyway, we have thought about it and agree it isn't fair on the puppy and generally unwise, so they've agreed to look after him a week longer.0 -

I dislike puppy farms as much as anyone, but you have no idea whether this was reckless breeding or whether the owners put a lot of thought and care in and carried out the relevant health checks.Aranyani said:

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

Thanks Elsien. Took the words out of my mouth. What incredibly patronising and sweeping statements they make.... We are fully aware of puppy farms and private breeders who are in it purely for the money. We have done plenty of research to avoid such unscrupulous breeders, and would never ever buy from a puppy farm or anyone in fact who didn't have the animal's welfare as a priority. We have also cross checked everything about the private breeder and the litter we have bought from with another professional breeder to check all is entirely ok. As said above, it's really best not to sweepingly assume and infer things about people. I was simply looking for advice (on an issue nothing to do with your input as it happens).elsien said:

So I suggest in future you kindly wind your neck in.0 -
Definitely leave pup where he/she is whilst you go away on holiday. It’s unsettling enough for the little things without changing environment / routine twice. What were the results of the health tests both parents had, just out of interest?0
