Morning all! Today I'm going to find out what's happened with my wood. I was going to go friday but by the time we drove back it was that time when you don't know if it's open or not and I'd got so confused when I did phone him, I didn't dare do that again.Cream tea in the garden was lovely, really nice. It was provded by a company that kind of branched out into home delivered fancies during lockdown and was really beautifully prepared, in a carry box, with a pop up stand in each box, everything packaged in boxes, with wooden knives and forks. There were six of us, so each couple had their own box..I was very impressed. And very full! I made it through a few triangle sandwiches, two bite size bits of quiche [bacon and cranberry and cheese and tomato], ate my scone and I was stuffed. The cake [ coffee cake and victoria sponge, and my share of the lemon drizzle and brownie are waiting to be eaten today...OH ate the maccaroons, I'm not fussed on them] My friends OH has this contraption that blows bubbles so he set that off and we discovered it keeps the flies and the wasps away because they can't navigate all the bubbles so we were also flying insect free....And the sun shone..Perfect last day of holiday...And then I came home and had a carb coma, followed by some riddling and italian lesson. This time I went through all the animals that were sitting on cars, behind cars, under cars, alongside cars..Who knew animals could do such diverse car activities....I will see what they do later on..Washing day today, or at least white washing day when the washing machine has a look to see if it can reach 60 degrees...This only happens a few times a year because most of my stuff is coloured, but I made the mistake of putting a white fluffy towel in the bathroom which is no longer white and needs a very good wash....Nelski, it's amazing how disorganised or thoughtless hopsital appointments can be.I've just had one to go to a clinic at 8am which is bad enough but on December 25th....Like that's going to happen...Enjoy the tutorial! Camelot, he's a clever boy! TA, I do wonder what will happen with her allergy. Does that mean she'll always be on one set of tablets or another forever? Scarlet, that's one I've never made, I hope you like it and yes, let us know what it's like
Dumpling, hope your clothes hunt is successful! Nargleblast, enjoy your days off.. Monna, I like the way you do housework
AOD, some days are just like that, maybe do things you enjoy rather than useful things, although sometimes they are the same thing...Rbuy, slipping into lethargy? This coming from the 17 mile bike rider? I'd hate to see your definition of lazy
Hey all readers along, hope you enjoy meandering through Monday...

Morning all, I see I'm late again. I didn't have a very good night's sleep because Mr Fix It was snoring, tossing and turning then groaning because his knee hurt and I was coughing again, so I'm very sloth like this morning but I have been pottering about putting the washing away. I'm glad I listened to TA's hopes for an Indian summer and kept some shorts at hand, they are certainly needed now.Yesterday I'd found my get up and go, as I did over an hour and a half of weeding, chopped down some plants ready for overwintering and got all the washing done and dried. I even washed the rug from the hall, the one from inside the patio doors and also the fleece throws that are kept in the living room ready for cooler evenings. After all that I treated myself to some quiet time sitting on the patio with my feet up and a strawberry mivi, topping up my tan before I need to hibernate. Only thing I could hear was the dulcet tones of a neighbour, gosh she must have the most shrill voice ever, one that goes right through you. She was calling for her cat Charlie, because it's dinner was ready...... or it could have been her DH
She seems to talk to her cats like children " Come on where have you been ? " or " There you are ! "
I was also visited by a horde of great tits, they are so fast they are almost a blur and a squirrel who looked annoyed that someone (me) had tampered with his empty nut shells that he had been collecting all along the wall. Ooops! I had shovelled them off into the bin, hundreds of the things.Today I want to cut in the border at the side to stop the grass taking the ground back and then relax and try to decide what to put in it next. Leave it fallow over winter, put in perennials, veg or shrubs or something else that I haven't yet thought of ? Never mind I'll get my books down and sit outside and get some vit D. Tea tonight will be easy bacon, eggs etc and I must remember to cook the wrinkly toms from the fridge for myself.Anyone seen M.E. lately ? I think that's where we could partake of afternoon tea and I could really go scones, cream and jam mmm. I'm sure there are a more MIA's but my brain won't let me recall their names today.Hope everyone can have a good day, see you all at the Spa later !Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
TAFF. Yes just one "cure" (but it's not really a cure as the flare ups keep coming back) She responds best (if only temporarily) to a steroid injection followed by a course of antibiotics. In the early days of the pandemic they were only seeing pets if an emergency otherwise medication left out to collect and steroid tablets don't seem to work as well as the injection. I rang earlier and I can now go in with her which saves a garbled scribbled message. I am hoping he will agree to a maintenance dose of anti b's when the course has finished. I asked initially if an antihistamine would help but apparently not.
When she ended up with cat rescue it was because the owners had done nothing about the allergy and it had spread all over her face and head and front legs. They wouldn't let her in the house in case they caught it from her! The foster carer showed me photos of her in this sorry state and it was heartbreaking to see."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Not to worry Nan, I'm late too! In my defence I have chopped down all the straggly annuals in the front garden, thought I might as well while the sun is at the front, so it looks a lot tidier now. I needed time out because Dh was doing a speed awareness course via Zoom, despite never having been on zoom in his life before and not being brilliant on the laptop
It was an early appt, and he got on and was talking to the trainer but she could't see him, after suggesting various tips we got DS in and he decided the camera on the laptop wasnt working.I'm annoyed about that as I got it him for xmas so its not like it was old.Swapped it for mine and he got going but when they had a break halfway through, our internet went down.DS fiddled with the router and got it back on after 10 mins, so all done and dusted now! As you can imagine tempers were a bit frayed
Gone to work now.
We had a bbq last night, after calling at a big new ald i for supplies. It was our 45th wedding anniversary so we had PImms in the garden- so rock and roll, but seeing as all the restaurants and pubs are shut here there wasn't much choice
The gas ran out on the bbq just as the food was finished, disaster averted. Can't see us having another this year but he can swap the bottle just in case.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Afternoon all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I was awake from midnight until 5 and then overslept. Beano has had a couple of walks, Steve's been shopping, he had planned to move today but has now decided to leave it until tomorrow.
We have lamb casserole tonight, had planning on my part, I've put it on to simmer and Steve is complaining as he thinks it should be cooked in twenty minutes!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
RedRuby belated happy anniversary wishes. You'd better get that BBQ up and running ready for tonight at the Spa !I'm already sorted with some banging tunes and even the Beach Boys God only knows to go with Nargles choir rendition. Party starts at 7pm, can't do it later as some may need their beds by 9pmnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10

Afternoon all - a late one from me. I met my lovely friend for an al fresco breakfast at the wee Italian cafe / deli which I really enjoyed. We sat and chatted for ages and then went for a little stroll around the block. He's an architect so we look for unusual buildings or places. I took him to a block which had decidedly atypical design and decoration which he hadn't noticed before so he's going to research it. Doing a bit of property p o r n has been my saviour these past few months.DM has been fed and watered and is now sitting up in the living room reading and watching TV.No going to the spa for me, sorry, I need to close my eyes for a wee while. Happy spa-ing to all and happy Tuesday to those not spa-ing.9

Hi everyone... I have been away cuddling my three week old first grandchild, Isobel. All is well Chez Nous. The arbour will be open for hot marshmallows this evening on the open fire. We returned late last night and the grass was as high as an elephant's eye so now the path is mown to the arbour a sundowner and melted marshmallows. All welcome. We stayed at a campsite near daughter's flat and no internet, plus I didn't take my laptop. Hoping everyone is well. We leave for other daughter's early tomorrow for a week of DIY and shifting as she is moving. Jack the Beanstalk yielded quite a lot of beans. The tomatoes are doing well and the neighbour enjoyed them. They are in the front garden and they ate them with our blessing. Enough for salad tonight (then marshmallows) with bean leaves and greeneries from the garden. No food miles there, very MSE.8
