Ahhh, I see. We need a 'like' button really. I thought 'thanks' meant thanks. It would be interesting to see what happened if users could like posts and the 'thanks' count therefore wasn't incremented.bigadaj said:Pressing the thanks button is also a way of demonstrating agreement or positive advice of course.....

I know this will elicit an indignant response, but I was wondering why @colsten thanked you for the post. Surely he/she knew this already? Or is it just a way of increasing the 'thanks' count of cronies? I'm beginning to understand.bristolleedsfan said:Coop Bank probably get paid for each debit card transaction, I have been doing 1p water debit card payments for some considerable time, whilst it is apparent that it will have impact on the other party, the other party could have changed minimum card payment and/or communicated to me about it, has chosen to do neither.......
Thanks does mean thanks. Thanks for a useful post. A post that is useful to the discussion.gsmh said:

Not sure why you seem to think it means 'thanks I never knew that'. Why would it mean that?
Your suggestion that a 'like' button would be better is odd - 'like' isn't the same as 'thanks'.
I don't think you are beginning to understand!

If someone posts something I agree with it seems logical to 'like' it. 'Thanks' suggests someone has posted something you didn't know already. All over the internet 'like' is used extensively to show you agree with the comments in the post. I notice here some users here collect 'thanks' as some sort of trophy - that's what I mean by 'beginning to understand'. Cronies thank each other and it's a way of building up that trophy count.

This is a forum. All over the internet there are forums where a 'Thanks' button is used extensively to show you are thanking someone for a useful comment/post. 'Thanks' does not suggest you're responding to something you didn't know - it is just thanks for contributing something useful to the discussion - for all, not necessarily just for the individual saying thanks.gsmh said:If someone posts something I agree with it seems logical to 'like' it. It's the norm for a forum. You use it as you see fit. It's not a conspiracy created for cronies to build up trophies. It's actually useful.
If you need some more info, try googling it.
And maybe skim through this thread, from this very forum, which raises all sorts of questions and issues, which are quite interesting and illustrate that there are no hard rules for the thanks button : https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5949967/use-of-the-thanks-button/p1

I use the internet extensively and the many forums I use have ‘like’ or a heart icon to indicate you approve of the comment. That is my experience. I’m absolutely not surprised we move in different circles. Thank you for your comment although I don't agree with it.0

Yes I have been doing 1p water payments for about 18 Months to maximise benefit of Coop rewards scheme as easily for myself as possible

Just got my rewards. It's down to £5 instead of £5.50 now. They delayed this change for a few months interestingly.0

You know what Praise, I never thought of that. I have been using my credit card to pay my credit card with Curve, but since they introduced front end now, the only reward I get is a fully paid off statement. Now at least I get something back if I pay with Coop.PRAISETHESUN said:Or you could make every purchase on your rewards CC and then pay it off the CC with 60x debit card transactions, so you get both the cashback and the Co-Op rewards. Not really worth the effort IMO but the option is there...
Or my tax bill!!!!!

I tend to use the 'Thanks' button to acknowledge I've read a post to save having to actually respondI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?1
