Reason for leaving

I wouldn’t put stress down on an application form as a reason for leaving, Far too big a red flag for many employers - that bridge can be crossed at the job offer/health questionnaire stage if it comes to it.MalMonroe said:
I think you mean 'stuck' on what to put for a reason, rather than 'unstuck'.nation said:On my application for a job it asks for Reason for leaving now i left while under a sick note for work related stress, Can my previous employee stat this even though after working for them for 5 years i've never been late, had an absent day or had a disciplinary etc?
Unstuck on what to put for reason
You have to be honest. Your ex-employer will be expected to be honest, too - former employers are also expected not to make any negative comments when they give references for ex-employees.
I don't think that being ill is a negative reason for leaving employment. If the job you are applying for is totally different to your last job, you could simply say that you left because you suffered from stress and that has made you realise that the best way forward is to have a change of career. (Or something similar.) And also, if possible and there is space, do mention your excellent five year record with your last employer.
If the job you are applying for is similar to the one you have left, then it may be that the same problem will occur somewhere down the line.Personal reasons might be better. Career change or similar if you’re moving into another field. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Yes, if you handed in your notice and resigned. If you are asked further at the interview why you left your job, you can say looking for new opportunities to challenge myself and grow, as I had been with my previous employer for 5 years.nation said:

Providing it is truthful and not in dispute, there is nothing to stop an employer giving a less than glowing reference. Although most employers will be neutral and non-committal in what they writeMalMonroe said:
