The Vesper was invented and named by Ian Fleming in the 1953 James Bond novel Casino Royale.
The Recipe: Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, add a large thin slice of lemon peel, then shoot somebody evil.
