New windows and Door are draughty

hi,

Ive had two new PVC windows and a door installed in the spring and now that the winds picked up I can feel a breeze
I tried to adjust the little bolt thing it made it a little tighter but theres still a 1mm gap in the corners.
And the rear door is worse, I can hear people chatting as they walk past the back.

Ask the builder to come back and show you how they should be adjusted - with the implication that if they can't they need to sort it.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Oh they didn't reopen after lockdown.

Are they still in business and just closed for the time being or have they ceased trading?
If they've closed down, how did you pay for the work and did you get any sort of guarantee (preferably insurance backed)?
  • Their closed.
Any ideas on how I can seal these? Will draught strips work?
  • Your best bet would be to get on YouTube & watch some videos of how to adjust the doors.
If you are not DIY inclined get somebody in to sort them out properly for you.
Draught strips will be an absolute waste of time & money guaranteed.

  • A couple of my windows have gaps, but they are 10 years old. I have not found any way to adjust the windows.
  • Should there be a rubber strip in here?

  • No there shouldn't be a gasket on arrow. There is a gasket on inside of frame and on casement.
Unfortunately the windows and doors you bought are dureflex profile a budget profile with little to no reinforcing. Your only option is pull black gasket out and put new bigger gasket in. Same with door your be able to tighten it but end of day its a budget door.

But should the door, windows and gasket last longer than 6 months?

I tried to adjust the cam with a hex key and that reduced the gap from 2mm to >1mm, but theres still a gap.
I noticed that the gasket is about 3mm thick. Should I change to a thicker gasket? This gasket doesnt look like the arrow head type, it looks to be glued on.
