This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all. After my two hour yomp through the woods yesterday I slept the best for a long time. Although I'm a bit achey I am pleased that I managed such a long time even though I had a couple of stops and definitely had reached the end of my strength just before the end. However, I impressed myself so will be doing longer walks from now on.It was a quick turnaround to get DM her lunch and set up afternoon cakes before her Saturday visitor came. As his visits are important for her emotional and mental health added to the fact that he doesn't go out anywhere apart from here, we decided that his care was important. When he left, well past 7pm I did a washing load and bit it hung up before crashing. The heavens opened yesterday afternoon and didn't shop until long into the night. I'm so hoping for a better day now. I have to do the Saturday shopping skipped from yesterday.Sometimes I get so stuck on lockdown and now new freedom with restrictions. Shaking myself out of this inertia is going to have to happen. Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for breakfast in the wee deli / cafe, it'll be do good for us both. The two teeth which needed root filled are settling down nicely. Last night I could use the electric toothbrush on them again rather than using a manual one. I've been using Anebesol adult strength gel on my inflamed gums and swollen tissues which was very effective. Happier days.I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Sunday to all.12

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Light cloud and air is cool here, but forecast is for sunshine and getting warm - if it's anything like yesterday it was really warm and gorgeous in the afternoon.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, I'll go for a shower shortly. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner was hot chicken pieces with salad and hot new potatoes - went down well. Today will be roast pork with all the normal extras. We may visit the parents whilst the meat is cooking this morning. This afternoon will be a chill time before going back to work tomorrow. I hope to get a lasagna made too, so that will be ready to put in the oven tomorrow night after work so it'll be an easy dinner - Monday's are very often a difficult day so a ready made/easy meal make the day easier to manage.
I gave my fridge a good clean out yesterday - it was disgusting - so all nice and clean and I can see exactly what I have. I'm becoming much better at prepping food stuffs and getting them stored in storage containers or zip lock bags (try not to use these much though due to the amount of plastic and it not being very enviro friendly - re-usable containers are a better choice).
Keep safe and well x

Morning Gers and all who follow
Just been having a catch up of the last couple of days - first full week back at work this week and my time just seems to have disappeared! Lots of new rules to follow but nice to be busy again.
At last I have an appointment to see my dentist on Tuesday morning - not sure if he'll be able to start sorting things straight away, but fingers crossed. I'm worried that if I don't get sorted in the next few months they'll end up closing again.
Red Ruby - thanks for the chicken recipe - I'm going to try it for tea tonight.
My dad had to buy a new laptop this week so I spent a couple of hours sorting it for him on Friday night - making it as simple as possible for him so he can use it. He was so happy when I took it down for him yesterday morning.
Will be going down again this morning as mam is going to church - we'll write his email to DD in Stockholm. Sweden has been taken off the list of quarantine countries so she's coming home for a long weekend in a couple of weeks time - I'm so pleased as I haven't seen her since Christmas.
Well I'd better get a few jobs done before I go out
Hope you all have a good day

Morning folks and thanks GERS for the new Daily. It promises to be a lovely day here. There is a bit of a breeze blowing which should soon dry the washing - The wm is still chugging away but it will get pegged out when it's finished.
So another day of same old same old and well into the foreseeable future as well - or at least until there is a vaccine. But the number of people I have heard say they won't have one makes me think the virus will be around forever.
I have got another of the blooming M & S meals out for lunch. They are to eat sooner or later so I am trying to have one a week until they are gone! This is a chicken one with mash, carrots and peas. I shall do some kale and cauli to go with it and maybe fill me up a bit! I have a few strawberries left which will do for afters with some sf jelly and yogurt.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe xx

Morning
Bit cloudy atm but forecast is really good so Spa back open tomorrow for a one day special
Had a nothing week really with much the same for next week too. Today is a kitchen attack how one person makes so much mess I'll never know I am definitely missing the organised gene.
Sad to see the numbers rising so rapidly again amazing how many people think they are an exception to the rules in some way I guess it will continue until they grow up and listen.
Food wise I have some brisket for later so will do a pile of veg and some gravy. Yesterday was a meh day so dinner was bran flakespretty hungry today so will enjoy dinner for sure
Have a good day all12 -
Hi everyone,
Laura and Brian are going home today, we have some holiday bookings in the house starting Friday so we should be able to start recouping some of he money we paid out on sheets and towels, not to mention all the new smoke alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors and door locks.
I'm going to miss Esben a lot but I'll see him on Thursday so that's ok. It may be a while after that because he will be going to nursery one day a week so we might not be able to see them.
I'd better go and get on because we have to pack up the house and there is stuff everywhere.13 -
Morning all
Nice bright sunny day here and yesterday turned into a scorcher so hopefully today will be the same, I have stripped the beds and got them on a hot wash they should dry well today.
We will get the dogs out somewhere nice today maybe with some water as they love jumping in and out of water we may take a picnic with us as well.
Dinner tonight will be pizza and salad which is an unusual dinner for a Sunday but Ive just noticed that OH put them in the fridge instead of the freezer so they will need using up quickly.
DD is back at work tomorrow as is OH so I shall be on my own all day for the first time since March !! part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is hating the thought of it
Right better get on the wm has finished, have good days all xx

Morning all, the sun has got his hat on again ! The Wm is on with a towel wash and there is also a small load waiting, who knows how long this weather will last or if we will see it again this year, so I'm going to wash, wash, wash as much as I can !I did give the bedroom a pretty good clean yesterday, then I tried to get the border wallpaper off but I'll need to heat it as some of it is being stubborn. I have the paint so I'm ready to go with a freshen up, it will be something to do as I can foresee another lockdown in the very near future. There has now been case of a 7 yr old with the virus here so it looks like it may be spreading through the schoolsThe kitchen needs blitzing today as Mr Fix it made a chinese style curry to go with the sweet and sour chicken and it looks like he has used every pot, pan and utensil, so thank goodness for the DW, but the cooker top was left mucky and the worktops could do with another going over. The good news is that there are enough leftovers for today too. This afternoon I'll try to get out into the garden as those weeds still haven't taken the hint that they are not wanted
I did want the trees at the side of the patio cut down a bit too, but Mr Fix It twisted his knee as he got up from his chair yesterday, tbh there was an almighty crack and I thought that he'd snapped a bone, so he's off his feet for a while....... typical when his services are booked for the coming week by me and Dad.
Right I'm off the hang out the washing, catch you all later.Take care and stay safe all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Moored outside Tesco so nice and convenient for shopping, moving on on Tuesday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Afternoon all, I have been tidying up leaves from the lawn, just the horrid leathery ones, the softer ones get chopped by the mower. Was going to mow but the lawn is still quite wet, even after yesterday's lovely sun so probably better done tomorrow. So I sat outside for a bit instead.
I swept the hard floors earlier, have dinner to cook but for now I'm just going to get on with a baby dress I'm knitting for a friend.
My compost bin is so hot that it steams, I wish I could harness the power! I'll turn it out later in the week, once it cools down.
Hope today is good for everyone.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10
