Partners mother tested positive rules around going to work!?

Hi guys. Been scouring the government website but I am slightly confused on this one. Hoping you can help.
Had a phone call off my partner whilst at work today saying her mother (my mother in law) has tested positive for COVID. She's a care worker and is tested weekly so last week she was negative this week positive.
My partner has been tested today and is awaiting results (12-48 hours) the test centre was shut when I finished so I cannot go until tomorrow.
Now, my confusion lies in this.
I am due to go into work tomorrow. From what I've read my partner needs to self isolate until she's got the results.
Do I need to self isolate too as we live in the same household, which would mean me not going into work tomorrow? Until my partner finds out her results and I've been tested and get mine?
We have been in contact with the mother in law over the last 2 weeks neither of us are showing any symptoms right now. So I'm a bit confused? My common sense tells me I shouldn't to go into work (I work in retail so I am consistently in contact with others at some stage or another) but will my employer frown upon me and state I should come in as I'm not showing symptoms?
I am also aware I'll only get SSP if I self isolate .
Thanks 😊

Majority of people are asymptomatic. Suggest you discuss the matter with your employer (by phone). This is precisely how Covid continues to spread around and around. Book yourself a test ASAP.0

This is what track and trace is supposed to do. Someone you have been with tests positive, you get notified, you self isolate, spread of virus slows.
That's what is happening in schools. A pupil or member of staff test positive, those pupils who have had contact have to self isolate.
Employers must plan for this eventuality.1 -
I've just found the following point while looking into track and trace
'- people you live with do not need to self-isolate if you do not have symptoms
So my partner doesn't have symptoms vehich means I still go to work, right?0 -
Does your partner live with their mother or you?Assuming your partner doesn’t live with their mother and is well then you don’t need to isolate but they may or may not need to depending on how much contact he had with the mother.0

If you have been in close contact with your mother-in-law, then you need to isolate for 14 days since your last contact with her. If you haven't then you don't.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
