Mira advance atl shower problems

Our ancient looking Mira shower is playing up. I'll need to get the landlord to get someone out to fix it next week but wondered if there is anything I could do to get it working properly before then.
It seems to lose pressure and heat. You have to turn it up to full heat to get it warm then it suddenly goes hot. When you turn the temp down the pressure drops to little more than a trickle. Any ideas?

This is an instant electric shower? It seems to be doing the opposite of what it should! When you turn the temp down, the flow should increase - that's how it adjusts the temp.

The only thing that I suggest you can check - because it doesn't involve touching the actual shower - is to unscrew the shower handset and see if the water flow is good (and temp decent and stable) straight out of the hose end. If that seems significantly better, then see if the nozzle holes need clearing - some have rubber tips that can be rubbed to release the scale. Failing that, you can soak the head in scale remover.

Are you in a hard water area?

Has anything been happening in your area that might affect the water pressure?
Are you in a flat where others may have made changes or the water board been digging up the road? Have you fiddled with the main stopcock?
I have something similar with a Mira in my new house but I know it's hardly been used and the first thing I did was clean the hose and head.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Have you tried resetting the temperature? The Mira Advance ATL is the one I have, and it's not just a bog standard shower. It's designed to cap the temperature, so you can't burn yourself in it. I had a rewire done and the shower stopped working - the electrician got it fixed but it was much colder. Turns out it'd been reset to standard temperature. It might not help with the water flow, but give this a go to see if does anything to the temperature.
    • Turn the shower switch off.
    • Set the dial to 8.
    • Turn the shower switch back on.
    • Within 30 seconds, hold down the flow and start/stop buttons at the same time.
    • On the long beep, let go of start/stop.
    • On the short beep, let go of flow.
    • After a few minutes, that should reset the temperature cap to max.

When the head on my shower gets clogged up, the water pulses hot then cold for a few seconds each - Darned annoying when trying to have a quick shower. Descaling the head cures the problem.
