No foundation in facts, after four holiday cancellations this year it's known as "grasping at straws"  !!

Let's hope we can get a grip on this and drive down the daily infection rate.
For those people who want to get away on holiday and for those who want the world to return to some form of normality.

    Sorry for you.

If it helps, just remember how absurd it is that the numbers in UK are 4.5x higher than in Poland, yet Poland is deemed a risk. Madness.

Not wishing to state the obvious , but if you test more people which the UK is by some considerable margin then the physical count is going to be higher.  Fake news abounds these days.

Proportionately the numbers are higher in UK in relation to tests too, and that's before we strip out the fraudulent tests by those wishing to go on holiday with no symptoms (which we can't do as the numbers are unknown).

I like data, I can only work with the data available. As far as I'm aware, testing in Poland is more tightly controlled to those with symptoms. What I do know for sure is that the issues in Poland are restricted mainly to 2 regions (the worst affected being Silesia), which isn't too different from the structure in the UK.

The actual number of cases in the area I live are proportionately tiny according to government data, however that isn't an excuse to remain laid back about the situation if we need to get rid of the virus in the first place.

Given the asymptomatic nature of the virus. That could mean absolutely nothing. Time for further reflection will be in 6/7 months time.

NHS tests are useless for most countries requiring a COVID test to be done pre-departure as they require a certificate containing the passport number, not just a text message confirming a result of a recently taken test is negative. Also the test and result both need to be acquired in the 72 hours before travelling, which is unlikely to be guaranteed with a NHS test.  I'm not saying some holiday makers haven't tried to get NHS tests without symptoms, just that in most cases a NHS test result would be useless.

It's also worth remembering both in the UK and abroad many people without symptoms do get tested e.g. key workers and vulnerable people e.g. care home residents and vulnerable people living in areas with a lot of cases.  In the past few days the UK government found out that Turkey was only reporting positive results where symptoms were also displayed so while their reported rate was 14 in 100,000 it was misleading compared to other countries. Hence why quarantine restrictions were added for Turkey but not for Sweden, despite Sweden's reported rate being 50% higher than Turkey's.
