My cat has a lovely scratch post, it’s big, it’s solid. He likes it, he uses it.
Sadly he also likes the hallway carpet!
It was a bit worn from a previous cat in some areas, he’s finishing it off!!!
Its 100% wool Berber.  That’s the sort of carpet I like, that natural material, close short carpet.
Is there any carpet that’s unattractive to cats?  Or cat proof?
He’s a Burmese - I’m case that’s any bearing.

Wondering if there's anything you can spray it with, anti-catnip if you like? You might not need to do it for very long.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • You can buy one as I remember the last time I bought carpet the sales person asked did I need it ( this was pre- cat and now I wish I had bought it).

I will say I regret buying a pale carpet as they seem to head to it to be sick rather than the easy cleanable wooden floors downstairs 🙄. But they don't try and scratch it up, it's a flat weave

I was told not to buy wool

I have Carpet on the stairs & landing and mY bedroom, the whole of the downstairs is hard flooring, upstairs is half & half - bathroom & other bedroom is hard.  When he wants to be sick he races for the carpet!  If he’s downstairs he’ll make it as far as my beautiful wool rug!

@sheramber  Does this remove the stains on the carpets - smell is not an issue (to my nose anyway)

I've just been to my local Pet Shop  and got a Simple spray.   That's the cats pocket money spent !

Fingers crossed it works OK -   apparently refills available.

I got the carpet fitters to leave the off cuts, of any size, these I put down in the areas he scratches at, and bin when they are beyond all help, he also has various cat trees, cardboard scratches etc, plus trees in the garden, the apple tree is a fav.

I can’t do that - he uses stairs.  It would be dangerous to have loose carpet.
