Amex and reward card spends

Hi all, I recently got an Amex reward card and need to spend a little more on it before the end of November in order to receive an extra reward. Am I able to purchase gift vouchers for shops for gifts (Christmas presents!) and this go towards my spends? Didn’t know if this was something they excluded. Many thanks

It should count as a purchase yes0

I found that topping up my Amazon Gift Balance did not count as a qualifying spend for cashback, though purchases of gift cards from supermarkets did as it did not differentiate in the transaction what goods were purchased, e.g. gift cards over groceries.0

looking at my card, it seems buying amazon gift cards/vouchers do give you cashback, I believe this is different to topping up your gift balance as above.1

I top up my Amazon account frequently and get MR points for doing so. It great as they have a promotion that gives you between 1-2% extra value. I have also purchased giftcards from Currys PC World that gives me extra points due to the Amex offer. That's weird it doesn't work for cashback cards.0

Really? That sounds odd. I have an AmEx Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card. I use it to top up my Amazon gift card balance every month. It's always been counted for my cashback.wiseonesomeofthetime said:I found that topping up my Amazon Gift Balance did not count as a qualifying spend for cashback...

I did a £1 'test' Amazon top up a couple of days ago.
This is how the cashback is reflected on my Amex Platinum account, which is a few months old and still within the 5% introductory cashback period:
