Redundant

Hi all, I am getting made redundant, I have been with the company for 10 years.they are only paying me for 3 years and say that the previous 7 years I was employed by a franchise and not an equity shop.its a coffee chain where some shops are a franchise and others are owned by the company.would you think this is correct even if not fare.

    so for the 7 years were you employed by a different shop?

    I do not think this is fair at all, even if it is correct.

  • Hi ask when you work for Costa coffee they will often move you around and for the relevant 7 years yes I was at a different shop, but still worked for Costa only difference is that that shop was a Costa franchise and the latter 3 years is called an equity shop owned by the group. As an employee I have been working for Costa for 10 years

    The franchise is a totally different business owner.  Costa themselves weren't your employer at that time.

    I would suspect costa are right if the first seven years you were working for a franchise as the owner of a franchise is not costa. 

    How did you move shops three years ago? If costa themselves moved you from shop one to shop two that would sort of imply they were your employer as they made decisions on where you were employed.
