O/S Daily Saturday 12 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here - I'll be heading out to do the food shop shortly. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start to the day - air is cool too - should warm up later.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, hash browns, black pudding, sausages, mushrooms and beans. Tonight I'm not sure but will see what's in the SM.
Yesterday work was ok, just strange to be there on a Friday as it's normally my days' off and now I have just today and tomorrow before going back.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning - thanks for starting us off NMLC.My marathon stint at the dentist yesterday was tiring but successful. The intense psin has gone so it's been worth it. Last night I had a really lovely time zooming with friends and enjoying a wee dram or two.Today is going to be busy so I'm gearing myself up to start it. There's the usual shopping trip though it'll be cut short as I have my first nordic walking session at 10.30. I will have to leave DM a breakfast and a plate of sandwiches for later.I hope that everyone has a happy Saturday.12

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Happy Nordic Walking Day to GERS and I'm glad yesterday's dental ordeal is behind you.
I had a lovely day out with my buddy yesterday and, as before, we almost had the top deck of the bus to ourselves. We ventured in a couple of the larger chazzers and then just stuck to browsing the market. There was a little band playing at the top of the main street so we sat on a vacant seat and passed a pleasant half hour listening to them and people watching. By then we were ready for lunch which was enjoyed with a nice bottle of wine.
SNOOZER I too am watching the new All Creatures and can't take to this Tristram either. And I preferred Robert Hardy as Siegfried too come to that! I'm loving seeing all the much visited local beauty spots, in particular when James was swimming at Janet's Foss. I remember one one visit with my DM, DD and DB and DB fell in the water! He was like a drowned rat! Fortunately it was a warm day so his dripping clothes soon dried before it was time to catch the bus back home!
I suppose it goes without saying we are STILL in the local lockdown. When the Rule of Six starts Monday it won't really change anything not already in place for us! So the excitement of today is the postponed Friday Tidy but I don't feel a bit like trundling round with the vac and duster. Needs must I suppose. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) where needed. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning All
It's showery this morning, the bedding has gone in the TD, the summer quilt is in the wash, the winter one will go on tonight. I've been putting a throw on top of the quilt so it's time to change.
I was so tired yesterday I went to bed at 8.30 and had a fairly good nights sleep, the visitors from Thursday made it a late night for me but it was worth it. We went for a lovely meal and talked all night, it's so nice that one of DS2's oldest friends still wants to keep in touch, we have some lovely memories of when they were young. They used the downstairs bathroom (I used upstairs) and they slept in their van. When I got home yesterday they had left the towels in the WM, so thoughtful.
Anyway, I must do some shopping today and re-make the bed, apart from that nothing much happening although I may see DS1 and the DGC later.
Happy Nordic Walking Gers!
Have a good weekend, take care. XX

Morning all
Bright and sunny here and we are in for a good day I think, will have a quick tidy round this morning and then get the dogs out for a good walk.
I have a wash on the go which will dry well today and might put a towel wash in after DD is off to see a friend tonight so OH and I will probably BBQ as its meant to be a nice evening but I will have to pop to the butcher to get some meat, I quite fancy minty lamb chops.
Im having very strange dreams atm last night I was visiting a family in Ireland with my sister (my sister and i were 18 ish but I had my 10 year old dd with me !!)and dd and two family dogs who have long passed, the family was huge with lots of brothers and I kept getting the names mixed up !!
Happy Nordic walking day Gers xx
Have good days all xx12 -
Morning campers.Took Dad's shopping up yesterday and he was most grateful that I had topped up his freezer with ready meals and quelle suprise he didn't turn a hair at the cost
Must have caught him on a good day. Unfortunately the tree couldn't come down as it started to rain and water and an electric saw thingy don't mix, so it's earmarked for a dry day, hopefully some time next week. Also I finally remembered to book a flu jab at the surgery for next Sat morning and it seems they have everything well organised with a list of where to queue and what to wear etc. I just hope it doesn't affect me the way it did last time many moons ago, when I was sick for a week
The sun is shining so the wm is doing it's thing and I've even shoved in my favourite dressing gown and the bathroom mats for a freshen up. I have stripped the bed and the bedding is waiting it's turn, I shall clean upstairs and then remake the bed later. I have to make a sweet and sour sauce and cook some chicken too as it needs to be cold to be battered, ready for a Chinese battered sweet and sour at tea time, lovely. I also wanted to do some weeding this afternoon, but looks like we've had rain overnight and the ground is still quite wet so that can wait.Well enough procrastination, another coffee and I will make a start on the upstairs, promiseEnjoy your Sat if you can. Hugs to those who are in need and healing vibes to the poorly ones or those in recovery.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning All
Enjoy your Nordic walk Gers
TA I am also watching the new All creatures and like you not sure about Tristram Sad to hear Dianna Rigg passed I quite liked her as Mrs Pomfree ( excuse the spelling)
Had a sneaky lie in today work is back to being full on at the moment
DH BIL and Sil and I are going to see a socially distance Jersey Boys tribute tonight Really looking forward to it as first time for a real night out since March
MIL now back in the home slightly annoyed as she was not given a covid test on discharge and would have had to stay in her room for 14 days ( not great for someone with dementia) luckily the home organised a test and she is now back with her friends
Well I can see I have waffled so wish everyone a good weekend
Take care all

Morning all! Not sure what's on the cards for today, it could just be a sit in front of the computer day although the kitchen does need a going over. I did say to OH a few weeks ago about getting a mono tap [ only from ebay, secondhand] and he disagreed. Lo and behold, four days ago one of the taps is now dripping. I'll do some googling about washers or taps after and decide then.Well, the pub lunch went very well, we had two of those big benches with seats either side for five of us, table service, the sun was mostly shining and very warm so all went off without a hitch and we all ate too much and ended up rolling around on our sofas clutching our bellies and groaning later on in our respective houses... Although we were sitting by an enormous pond with a a nicely spouting run of water which made one of us [ luckily not me] leave earlier thanks to the associations of running water and weeing....Yesterdays chinese in the garden was a bit chillier and in the end we were wearing blankets but apparently the weather is going to change so the garden cream tea on Sunday should be quite summery. And that will be our holiday week over with. And then winter will come...oh well, could be worse I suppose...Have fun nordic walking [ will have to look that up..] and at least your face isn't in pain any more Gers
Supposed to be sunny next week nanny, be careful though eh?! Hey all reading along, hope you're doing well, or just doing..Salubrious Saturday to you all....

The Nordic walking session was OK though it's not for me! I'm not fit enough for it yet but certainly enjoyed being active for the better part of two hours. I felt that I held back the rest of the group so dropped out for a bit whilst they did another hill loop. Very nice people and I can see the benefits of it but I won't be doing it again. Now I need a wee tiny snooze.10
