Not sure about insurance products but pay for anything and everything using credit card and pay that off with the statement balance so no interest to pay.

E.g. if you are spending £100 and they have asked for it to be paid via bank transfer then insist you pay £1 / £2 / £10 whatever on credit card and rest via bank transfer. They cant charge you extra for paying via credit card but they can say they only accept bank transfer as payment method.

However, If you are happy to cover their fees I dont see any reason why they would decline unless they are dodgy outfit.

This will give you a peace of mind should anything go wrong as the credit card company is equally liable as the company you are buying from.
  • It covers a variety of things from venues closing to dress shops disappearing to rings being stolen to vendors not showing up. Most of them have a menu of things to include and the pricing is based on the items covered and the total budget.

We recommend it for all of our couples; the cost is usually in the low hundreds and even the most well meaning venues and vendors can go out of business, sometimes not by their own actions. With the average cost of a wedding in the USA almost 30,000.00, it makes total sense to have it.

Hello, sorry to intrude, but you seem knowledgeable on this subject and I could use some help.

We are recently engaged (sept 2020) and due to marry in Oct 2022 all going well. Our venue have asked for our deposit to be paid ASAP understandably but we want to ensure if we pay the deposit now (it's a large sum for us) that we are still protected by s75 if the worst happens and the venue goes bust as late as in Oct22.

We're getting conflicting responses from our credit card companies and a lot are trying to fob us off with chargeback responses. Can you shed any light on this?

As long as the total contract value is under £30,000 then you simply need to pay something on a credit card in your name (or at least the card holder must be named on the contract with the venue)  and you will have S75 cover for the full amount.

S75 simply makes the card company jointly liable with the merchant and so if they went bust S75 would apply and you could claim from the credit card company. However it doesnt replace wedding insurance as if you were ill before hand or worst case you broke up before that isnt the merchants fault and so isnt the card companies fault either.
