Shearing Administration HSBC bank wants charge back money back!

Hi, We followed the advice on using the Charge Back through HSBC bank card. The bank were really good and instantly out the money back in our bank. HOWEVER, now the bank is taking the money back as they have not been able to claim the money from Shearings! What action should we now take please?

Shearings have gone bust, yes? It should have been a S75.

The bank are right, a chargeback is when the bank claims the money back from the merchant but there is no merchant to claim it from now as they have gone into liquidation.

    I see.
OP needs to go back to the bank and use the term "Section 75". Do not take no for an answer. Say the company has gone bust and the bank doing a chargeback instead (again) is pointless.

Did you ask them for a "chargeback" initially? Trying to work out if its a case of you using the wrong term or a case of the bank ignoring you and taking the option that wouldnt cost them money.

There is a merchant still, they are currently in administration, they just have insufficient funds to continue trading.

It would be useful for the OP to confirm if its a debit or credit card, the "bank card" suggests its probably debit to me, and to confirm what HSBC has said the reason was for the chargeback failing, it could be the administrators have challenged to chargeback
