My daughter in law rented a washing machine for 3 years, when they moved into a new rental property it had a washing machine in it, so they cancelled the rental agreement and asked for the washing machine to be collected. Before it was collected we were put into lockdown, now the company are trying to charge for the months that we have been storing it in our garage! We have negotiated down to one month payment, but surely as the agreement had been cancelled before, it is not my daughter in law's responsibility if they did not collect before lockdown?

Who was responsible for the delay? Them or your DiL?
What does the agreement say?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Did she get acknowledgement of the cancellation of the contract? If not, then the rental company will assume that she's still been using it.0
