Recently sold my car , rang to cancel car insurance and was told there was a charge of £79 for the priveledge !  This must be a new way of insurance companies making money as ive never encountered this before . How many people sell their car on the same day as the insurance expires ? , not many , so companies are on a winner .  I suppose from now on i need to ask a new insurance cover what the cancellation charge is  but what a con !!

If it's not in the contract you signed then you won't have to pay it.

No, just read the list of charges before you sign up.

Sadly nearly all insurance if not all co's have that and the amounts vary. They do tell you and in the small print
