Sainsburys' Nectar card "trust rating"

I kept getting stopped for rescans after an error by the shop assisitant on an earlier random scan on a scan and shop. I complained to a "manager" who said it was completely random. When I said this was not possible as I was being selected so many times, he admitted that if a rescan shows something was not scanned, the "trust level" on your card is lowered and you are more likely to be selected for a rescan. So my Nectar card was saying I was untrustworthy!. This is surely against data protection rules. The manager offered to change the trust level on my card and took a note of the number. There is nothing on the Nectar site that indicates that your card is programmed with a trust rating.

I had this with Boots.
It didn't matter what I bought, always flagged for a check. A 3 bottle haircare purchase triggered a "bulk items" check. It was on offer!
After it happened with a single bottle of alcohol free mouthwash "requires colleague approval" I complained and asked if there was a marker on my account.
I was assured there was no such thing but funny enough it never happened again!0 -
Its not breaking any data protection rules.

If a "trust rating" exists you wont beaware of it.
As far as I know rescans are random.
What was the error made by a member of staff ?0 -
I was once told that if you 'unscan' something then you will usually be checked. In my non-scientific test on this, on the two shops were I 'unscanned' something my basket was checked.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
