No it's not. The UK govt employs almost no-one.
  • I’ve seen Boots and Sodexo advertise jobs like this but was hourly paid.

I’ve signed up to be tested as part of this trial. I didn’t realise the woman who turns up each week was making £130 a day. That’s pretty good really.

    What’s the trial called?

Whilst it’s not illegal to conduct private trials; I’d be looking at the details.

It’s run by the ONS and is the main way that the spread of COVID is being tracked across the country. They’re testing hundreds of thousands of people.

It’s perfectly legal, you don’t need to worry 😉

The ONS trial is a 12 month study. You are tested once a week for 5 weeks and then after five weeks it moves to a monthly test. It’s quite good as I’m working from home anyway so I’m in and I get paid £25 each test (£50 the first test).

If you’re the swab collector it’s pretty easy I think as you’re not allowed in any houses so you basically turn up, hand over the pack. The person swaps themselves and then hands it back. It’s pretty low maintenance.
