Tell Us Once?

Hi
My Dad died almost 3 weeks ago and I've been dealing with the admin. I used the Tell Us Once service with a unique reference provided by the Registrar when I registered Dad's death. Things are a bit of a blur and I realised a couple of days ago that I'd never received any email/postal notification that I'd gone through the process. I'm now panicking that all the organisations I think have been informed, haven't as I've not heard anything from anyone.
I'm guessing other people have used this so wanted to check that it's normal not to hear anything, either from Tell Us Once or any of the other organisations, in 2 weeks from submission?

I used it but can’t remember how long it took, sorry. Can’t you log in and do it again just in case?We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0

My sympathies. I know all too well that you are operating in a fog now.
Are you aware that the 'Tell us once' service only covers other Government departments and a limited number of Council services?
You will still have to contact utility companies, banks, pension funds, landlord etc yourself.1 -
As above .Tell us once is limited to a few .Water Gas Electric Bank and Direct Debits .House Insurance Private pensions etc you need to contact .No need to rush take your time . leave bank until last .0

A registrar will explain the Tell Us Once service when you register the death. They will either:
- complete the Tell Us Once service with you
- give you a unique reference number so you can use the service yourself online or by phone
- I used the Tell Us Once service with a unique reference provided by the Registrar when I registered Dad's death.
- Can you remember whether the Registrar went through the service with you?

They probably did, but if OP is anything like I was you really don't take it all in. I had Mr S with me, but OP may have been on their own.Speaking with my ex LGPS hat on, we had numerous late notification of pensioner deaths - because the NOK assumed that 'Tell us all' really did mean all.

I used the Tell Us Once service but wasn't confident that the message had 'got through'. Only HMRC have contacted me as an obvious result of using the service. My father had received his State Pension and Attendance Allowance the day before his death, so I wasn't expecting to hear from them anyway. I put together a spreadsheet of whom I had contacted, when, when I had sent them the death certificate etc etc. I'm now working my way through the same process with the Grant of Probate. 4 months on...I'm still struggling with getting a meaningful response (and final payment) from those responsible for his RAF pension and War Disablement Pension.....ggrrrhhhh!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

I used it recently and most Public Sector organisations were notified and I duly heard from them. My mother was in receipt of State Pension and Attendance Allowance and although those payments ceased very quickly thanks to the Tell us Once system, I never heard anything from DWP. I phoned them and they said that they had been notified by TUO but they had no details of who to contact. They very quickly sent forms for me as Executor to complete and then about £800 in money owed to my mother.
In summary, Tell us Once is good but not infallible0 -
I used it, don't remember getting specific notification but state pension / nhs pension / council tax / attendance allowance all seemed to know - DVLA and passport were also informed but I didn't hear from them0

My relative (Exor of an estate last year) says he was given a reference number by the Registrar and used it on line on return from the office.
He says he was contacted very promptly thereafter by HMRC and DWP.
The deceased had been in a nursing home so no need to contact the local council.0 -
I didn’t use it this time although had previously. Despite that I was contacted by HMRC, DWP, local council etc within a week or so - admittedly by them writing to deceased address addressed to “personal representative of ‘ ... ‘ “
I still have no idea how they all found out clearly there are internal systems at play ...0
