UK holiday cancellation/insurance that covers COVID

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else.
We are hoping to go away to North Wales in the October half term. I'm looking for
- self-catering accommodation that will allow refund and cancellation if we are sick/isolating or in local lockdown or if the place we are going to is in local lockdown,
- or insurance that will cover us if we have to cancel for the above.
All the insurance I have looked at excludes COVID-related cancellation. We have previously used Sykes accommodation, but their T&Cs look very unhelpful, and they don't seem to have been very good with other customers recently. I would like to go with them, as long as I don't end up losing my money if COVID interferes with our plans.
thanks, GQ

As Covid and local lockdowns are a known risk now it is unlikely you will find any insurance to cover it.
Insurance is for unknown risks.

Quite a lot of tour operators/accomodation providers are including COVID cover free as they know people can't get insurance for it and most therefore won't book without it.For example Haven: https://www.haven.com/coronavirus-guarantee

Thank you for the replies. We've decided to book the week before, as by then it will be clearer if our area or the area we are travelling to are likely to be heading towards local lockdown.2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20210

Just seen today's news - North Wales going into local lockdown. Looks like we made the right decision by waiting, although it does mean we won't have had a holiday at all this year:/2021 - mission declutter and clean - 0/20211
