Coronavirus university and money!

Hi all
My son has been caught up in the A level exam fiasco and, without boring you with the details, the situation is as follows
When he eventually got his final results they were good enough to meet his conditional offer for Bath University. However, due to the delay and Bath restricting the number of places due to social distancing, his placement - whilst guaranteed- is deferred until next September 2021
My question is what happens with regard to money! He is trying to find a temporary job but I’m guessing may well struggle. My child benefit ha stopped and therefore he is no longer included in my universal credit claim (I am a single parent low income).
Any information would be gratefully received

Yes that's correct. He can also look for jobs, although i do understand that it won't be easy but shops will be starting to take on extra staff soon for the christmas period, where i live i've already seen adverts in shops looking for temp xmas staff.
