    To Answer the questions..
I worked abroad for a year and i also had a year where i worked full time on PAYE so not entitled to Seiss.
Yes i will have to get a job of course if that i my only option but im looking for options and advice duh!!! my point is i think its a disgrace i cant work anymore because the goverment wont allow me to, yet allow every other industry too get back and wont encourage or compensate our industry.

  • I hate to say it @Cinders82 but you already know the answer, unfortunately it is UC or get a job in another sector whilst things stabilise in your preferred industry.

    What sort of entertainment?
Things were allowed to re-start with distancing from the 15 August. The only venues that have to remain closed are nightclubs.
If you can carry out your entertainment with a distanced audience then the government are not stopping you from working anymore. The government are probably allowing you to work.

  • I just wanted to know if anyone knew of any other financial options for someone in my position...
Thanks to those who tried to answer with empathy.
The rest of you can do one and get off my thread because you either cant read or enjoy kicking someone while they are down!

Can't see any replies where people are "kicking someone while they are down" everyone seems to be making suggustions.

My suggestion was that some entertainment is now able to open back up. Pretty much the only place that has be closed due to government rules are nightclubs. Performances can go ahead with socially distanced audiences

I don't think any one has intended to cause you upset, and we really do understand how this is a stressful time.

The entertainment industry is more challenging than some others to recover.

It's also very difficult for anyone to provide meaningful comment as so little has been shared about your position to allow us to build on.  Even how and when you work was little information painfully extracted.

All we have is that you work self employed in the entertainment industry (except for the year PAYE).  That could mean anything, and the appropriate answers would be quite different depending on whether you are tea lady at the local theatre, John Barrowman, pole dancer in a nightclub, or something else entirely.  They're all in the entertainment industry.

I am sure people will provide constructive comments if we can understand your situation better.

How about giving us some meaningful info on which to base suggestions?
For which dates were you PAYE, which dates were you abroad? When did you start trading again as self-employed in the UK?
You say you don't qualify for SEISS but give no info as to why. What about BBL?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The entertainment industry has been hard hit. A lot of it depends on where your work was. If it was mainly in theatres, I doubt there'll be much at all until some point next year. You've also got a problem from Monday if you're a children's entertainer with restrctions on numbers who can gather, though that would be better if you're in Scotland or Wales where children under a certain age don't count, so maybe some birthday parties will go ahead. My friend's husband is keyboard player in a duo, he has just started picking up work in the working men's clubs, so if that's something you can do maybe look into that.

I can't see anyone trying to kick you. I just see people giving some options. Benefit wise, then you're claiming everything you can apart from council tax reduction. Mortgage help through a loan can't be claimed until 9 consecutive assessment periods with zero earnings.
Other than that all you can do is look for other work. With Xmas around the corner shops will be looking for temp staff, which is already happening in my area.
