You don’t go, because ultimately not infecting lots of people and potentially killing some of them is more important than your rent.
People didn't think of this when we had lockdown.jon81uk said:

They was told they couldn't claim statutory sick pay from the works so they would have to phone the benefits.
  • So has your friend phoned the benefits?

It's someone my girlfriend works with. The woman works in a school and there's been a few cases in different schools so I think she's just planning ahead because the council are keeping quiet about covid cases.
  • It doesn't matter if you have 10 jobs.  Quarantine means quarantine.

You couldn’t claim SSP for being in lockdown, but I think you have always been able to claim if you are quarantining (i.e. spending 14 days at home due to symptoms/contact with someone infected).

    It means you're not self-isolating.
What do you do without money
Well this is it isn’t it and where the flaw is in the system for those who can’t afford it.

But morally if you are contacted to self isolate & have potentially been around someone with the virus - going to the other job and potentially infecting everyone there isn’t helping everyone else is it?
Sure the company would love that? Could cause more trouble down the line especially if they find out he was meant to be isolating, didn’t and and then risked/caused an outbreak. Don’t think you would have too many sympathetic bosses in that situation .
Would they be able to sack you if someone caught it but they couldn't prove you gave it to someone else. My local council keeps posting on facebook about staying home if you've been told to self isolate but when I asked the question what happens if you don't they never gave a answer and they are not replying to any questions to covid.

They probably don't need to prove it. If your friend had been told to quarantine and refused to do so, then she'd be breaking the law and fined accordingly. Her employer could just as easily dish out some disciplinary action for also ignoring the quarantine requirement.

Weirdly I'm not sure they are. Whilst the "quarantine after entering the country" .gov site mentions the legal penalties for non-compliance none of the "track and trace self-isolation" .gov sites do.
I think all they can do is, forceably, detain you for testing if they think you are infected.

I am pretty sure my work would treat coming in when we should be quarantining as serious misconduct - losing the job would be even worse for finances.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.
