Possible Asbestos Board

Just a quick update. I got the result back and it was not asbestos. When the guy came to take a sample he said it looked like superlux and that the shiny sparkling surface was made like that usually to distinguish between that and real asbestos.1

Well, you can sample it yourself. You can't test it yourself.Homer_home said:You can send off for a testing kit so you can test it yourself , if for nothing else then your peace of mind

What do you think a testing kit does?Allows one to take a sample and send it to a lab?Don't think it's like pregnancy. Matron would know, but she's having a lie-in.

If it is AIB and its high content, you can't move it. In fact, no one can apart from a licensed asbestos company. Your regular asbestos local company, can only remove low content asbestos, ie unlicensed.
High content asbestos requires an application from a specialist company, before it can be touched. Don't try and move anything yourself. Don't let Bob the builder touch it. Get an inspection and professional advice.Looks like ‘Bob the builder’ was right after all

The sample is usually examined under a microscope (using various methods to enhance any fibres). An expert eye will be able to identify not only the type of asbestos, but also the quantity and be able to give you a qualified opinion as to the risk it poses. Bob from next door is unlikely to have the equipment or training to give an adequate assessment.The_Warned said: Don't think it's like pregnancy. Matron would know, but she's having a lie-in.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

This time, yes. Worth risking your families health over? No. Always get an asbestos professional to test.Mickey666 said:Phil4432 said:First of all, you need to stop breathing around those holes. As others have said. It is not an instant result type thing. You take a sample double bag it, send it to the lab, where an analyst examines it under a microscope and tests different fibre types to determine which type of asbestos fibre it is / is not.Homer_home said:
