I got a new smart meter installed by the company octopus, my previous company was spark, compatable?

Do these 2 companies have compatible smart meters because im still with spark electricity but octopus just installed a new meter also.

Just wondering if the new octopus meter is compatible with the spark company?

    I'm confused - Spark was taken over by OVO. Where does Octopus come into it ?

     but the first line of the thread - "I'm still with Spark"  

    Re compatibility - just continue with your usual monthly reads until you receive a bill and see if the reads are yours (letter C) or letter A.  Even so continue to read your meters and keep your own records

    Oh I changed companies from spark/OVO to octopus , but also changed back to spark after octopus changed my meter

    I believe octopus only install smet2 meters with their own installation team. Smet2 is meant to be fully switchable between supplier

    Have you had your first bill from OVO ?   Do the readings have A, C or E against them ?

    Did you stay with Octopus long enough to get the meter working properly, delivering half-hour data, before you left?

    Why on earth have you chosen Spark? Their rates are astronomical. What are your kWh rates and daily charges?

    If your bills from Spark/OVO are showing the letter A after the readings all is OK and the meter change and communications are complete.

    But as others have asked why on earth have you swopped back to Spark/OVO ?. Swop away from Octopus possibly but why Spark/OVO - there are cheaper options.

    It isn't easy to help you without more clarity on what happened and when...
    What was the date your smart meter was installed?
    What was the date when you requested the switch back to Spark?
    What was the date that the switch completed and you were back with Spark?
    Why on earth you would do that would also be a good question, but is optional to answer :)
    The reason I ask is that when a SMETS2 smart meter is installed there is a period of around a week but sometimes as long as two weeks where your supplier works with the DCC to properly register the meter and setup the data pathway to obtain the readings from your meter.
    If you switched away before that work was completed, the meter may not be properly registered with the DCC which may cause problems for the 'new' supplier.
