Options
Hi everyone I hope you’re ok :)
My current PIP award ends on 05/12. Ive not heard anything yet. Last time I had a review it was months before.

Are they still suspended ?

I had my assessment with Capita last time at my home

  • Was the award made by tribunal? if so they only send renewals 14 weeks before end date, it could be that it's been extended by 6 months due to cv19, as long as the payments continue I would just wait and see, if you're worried you could phone them.

No it was awarded straight away. It was a renewal last time too.  Thanks I will just wait then. I was just wondering if it might be a telephone assessment due to covid this time.
    Thank you

Your award will have been extended by 6 months because mine has been, although they didn't send me a letter telling me this. It wasn't until i rang them a couple of weeks ago because my blue badge wasn't running out and i didn't have at least 6 months on my current award (previously ending at end of October 2020) that they told me it ends at end of April.
I haven't yet received my review form either.
Ring them is all i can advise and they will tell you that it's been extended.
Face to face assessments are currently still suspended and telephone assessments have replaced them. What will be happening when you have your review is anyone's guess.

I\m glad you mentioned your blue badge. i just had to renew mine and they've only awarded it until my pip award ends in February. if its been extended have you managed to get another badge or a letter showing the award is extended. i'm pretty peeved i've had to pay #10 for a badge lasting less than 6 months. So will be even more peeved if i have to pay again for another 6 months :s

My BB is currently being processed by another department somewhere. I received an email a couple of days ago with the BB number, start and end date of BB but the end date is the same as my PIP award new end date, which is April 2021. Rather annoyed too that they only gave it to me for this very short time!
I'm still using my out of date BB which is allowed due to Covid19 under the new updated rules, until my new one arrives.
Just so you're aware, your PIP award may not be extended because it ends in February. My daughters also ends then and i have no idea whether her's has been extended because i've not received anything.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Poppy. I'm expecting the brown envelope in time for Christmas so we'll see.
It amazes me they only awarded for 2 years. I'm pretty sure my MS isn't likely to improve lol Although it would be amazing if it did and i'd happily say goodbye to PIP as i run around with my son :)

Have you ever asked for a longer award? More often than not, if you don't ask for it they will likely continue to give shorter award legnths. When completing the form ask for a longer award and also ask if they don't give it, what evidence was used to give the shorter award. This also applies to a Tribunal.

I wonder what sort of delays exist in the system. I returned PIP review form 5 weeks ago and they say they've referred the review on to the assessment provider. Award was extended into March next year due to this years' events. I have a critical period in November when I need to be in receipt of PIP.. can't figure out whether an assessment or decision is  likely by then.

It's like saying "how long is a piece of string" I know that's doesn't answer your question but there's no answers because there's no timescales.

One thing we do seem to know is appeals are taking many months if not over a year... meaning any bad decision might take a long time to reverse... too long in my case... so I suspect I'm going to be badgering the assessment provider for timing clues... if they're going to take more than a couple months from now to do anything that's fine by me.. lol. I have a bad feeling I might end up 'playing games' to stall a telephone assessment but quite frankly if they say one is needed they are screwing me about given the evidence and information they have. Life on hold...
