Tree surgeon quote.

Evening all,
Was wondering if someone could give an indication as to whether a tree surgeon quote I've been given, sounds about right.
The quote is to reduce and reshape the crown of a tree by 30%, and to thin the canopy by 20%.
I'm in the London area, the cost would be £300 inc. VAT.  The tree is around 20 feet.

Thanks in advance.

Seems broadly reasonable to me. If it ends up being a half day job you could argue it's pricey but not ridiculously so.

    Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

If they are disposing of the waste as well, the price isn't excessive.
But do check that the tree isn't subject to a Tree Preservation Order or that it is in a conservation area.

Bit pricey for a tree only 20' tall, surely.

Agreed but these are market rates.

Wait until December and the OP might find the price comes down as demand for tree surgeons does.

If that includes all waste removal and site tidy-up then it's OK. My tree surgeon seems to charge £300 or £400  for "small job" vs "big job" so I've learnt to let everything build up and gets loads of work for £400 rather than only a little bit of work for £300. It's very odd but since he's reliable and tidy, I can work with it. :D

A 20' doesn't sound like much work, I could climb up there myself and do it.
A lot depends on the tree and location.

Thank you all.  Looking at the tree again, its maybe 24 feet.  They would leave the site clean and tidy.
