setting up google chromecast

Been trying to get chrome cast to work for days now with no joy.   set it all up from the google home app on iPhone 8. The chrome cast is connected to the same WiFi as my phone. At the end of the setup it says all done now enjoy watching on your TV. But when i click on the cast button it doesn't see the chrome cast. Im thinking it maybe faulty. Used it last year while at uni. but hasn't been used for 6 month. Ive also reset it back to factory settings, still no luck. Please any help before it ends up in the bin.

How are you powering it? If via USB from the TV then perhaps that is not quite providing enough - err - power. Try using the power adaptor.

Have you selected the input on the TV that the Chromecast is plugged into?
