Vat on work

Hi I had some work done to my car they charged 1.5 hours at £45 then added vat at 20% total  58.50 then put total 58.50 vat £70.20 can the charge vat twice

    You'll have to give a full breakdown but looks like there's something missing !!!!!! £45 plus vat is £54 not £58.50.

    1.5hrs for £45 + vat? That's £30/hr - which is ridiculously cheap. Even £45/hr is low-end.

    1.3hrs at £45/hr + vat would equal £58.50 + vat = £70.20

    The other possibility would be £45 labour + £13.50 parts = £58.50 + vat = £70.20
