Does anyone have any feelings on the zopa credit card which looks a bit like the old tandem credit card ie real-time notifications and no fees spending abroad
I am tempted but would like to know if there are any downsides

Seems to review well. Only you know if it will fit your needs.1

Looks ok, although the Barclaycard Rewards is better. Both cards offer fee-free spending abroad, but the Barclaycard Rewards also pays 0.25% cashback. I am presuming you plan to pay off your statement in full every month.

Pretty crap start limit mind. Isn't it capped at £1500?1

Aimed at millennials. Trying to attract customers who love the idea of using fintech start ups even when the product isn’t that great. Probably will attract loads of unprofitable customers while the company burns through cash and then they’ll end up withdrawing the card in a couple of years when their backers demand they start to actually make a profit.3

What I liked about tandem was the real-time notifications and as far as I know this is the only credit card that does this other than I suppose the John Lewis card which is not exactly real-time but pretty quick0

My Amex app updates in real time when I spend or make a payment to the account.2

My Aqua credit card generates a text message that's received even before the bill has has time to be printed. Also very useful with online shopping if the website is slow to refresh or hangs. Not quite so good if you get an alert at 6am when Asda bill for an online delivery is generated, or when a monthly subscription is collected when you're driving...mazzetti said:What I liked about tandem was the real-time notifications and as far as I know this is the only credit card that does this

I really liked Tandem I was in Germany and tapped on the contactless payment machine in the German supermarket with my Tandem card and almost before I had removed the card there was a notification on my phone that xxx euros had been spent and yyy GBP
I thought well - wow2 -
I think it looks alright, but have a look over the T&C's, reviews and make sure the card is right for your needs0

Starling and Monzo debit cards do the same. Amex cards also give instant spend alerts if you add them to Gpay or Apple Pay even if you pay with actual card instead of the app. To be honest I would like the option to switch this off on my Starling account, it was a novelty at first but a couple of years down the line I find it quite irritating.mazzetti said:I really liked Tandem I was in Germany and tapped on the contactless payment machine in the German supermarket with my Tandem card and almost before I had removed the card there was a notification on my phone that xxx euros had been spent and yyy GBP
