House Clearance or....

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I could not find a suitable home.
My father recently died and his house is full of stuff. Loads of stuff. Almost all not of any great value or any value, but some may well be. Including some old books, ornaments, clocks etc. I don't know what to do. I am too busy to try and sell most of it. Is a House Clearance decent? Seems a rip off as they can resell so much stuff.
Are there any services that come in value/sell items for you? Thanks

A local auction house will come and have a look and identify any items they think may have a value and sell them for you.0

If you say where in the country you are, you may get recommendations.
But Tony's suggestion is a good one: in a similar situation it's what we did, and the auction house recommended a house clearance service which was worth every single one of the considerable number of pennies they charged!
Note that the auction house may value things they do not wish to take to sale.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We used a clearance service for my fathers house. They sold the stuff worth selling. We more or less broke even from a financial point of view and it was well worth it we thought. We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0

we have just had to use some house clearance as part of a house move - were going to send some stuff to auction but the auction house were so full of stuff at present (as everyone is moving and decluttering ) that they could not take any more in0
