There was someone here yesterday and I was told work would continue today but no one showed. They told me on the phone it was because I had requested so many "extra" jobs when the guy was here yesterday. I have requested these jobs in writing on 17th october and have a response that says "Ok I'll sort all this". I get that mistakes happen on the way but a bit !!!!!! off that this is being spinned as if my fault now. There was a bit in the job that wasn't anticipated with some fittings on fitting well and requiring extra work that I understand makes it take a bit longer and I'm being charged more for this, but I didn't change what I asked for several weeks ago. Also don't mind paying a bit more as it is an extra day of work for someone, but it's just not my fault and there is no one here now doing the work. It's past midday. Is this normal?Yes it's normal for a job to overrun, but it's not normal to turn up day 1 and not day 2.What would be due to happen today? What are these extras? You need to manage this relationship and yet not pay any money until you're 50% into this work.
The work that was meant to be done yesterday did actually take place but I was advised someone would be here in the morning and someone else in the afternoon. Both people came in in the afternoon.0 -

Is he any member of a deposit protection scheme . He may disappear but on the same note you may turn bandit or circumstances may change . I own a double glazing installations company . When I order my windows and doors I pay half then . I pay the other half before delivery . I have put all my eggs in a basket if I didn't ask for a deposit for the work on the onset and my govnt body fensa are telling us to ask for half the price of the job upfront to cover them doing a back out before installations . I rarely take a deposit but sometimes do if I feel either I need the money to pay for the materials or I feel they may back out . It seals the deal . Esp in these uncertain times of suppliers going pop aswell as the builders . Its down to a matter of trust and what is written on the contract you've signed . 95% are good to their word . The other 5% give builders a bad name .

I’ve paid a builder 50% upfront for materials, he has done some of the work and has not returned for 4 weeks! I have had false promises but now I think they are just excuses. Not sure which way to go as he is highly recommended and does a superb job of any works.
unfortunately, he has my ££££ !Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0
