Sorry to hear this. Do you have any family/friends who could spare a few tins or a loaf of bread, or is there a foodbank near you? I know there have been a few agencies who are helping people who are struggling due to lockdown, perhaps on FB or your local council website. Wishing you luck.

As you have an autisic child your GP will be aware of his problems re food and is able to issue a foodbank voucher in certain circumstances.Citizens advice and local help agencies may also point you towards help.GPs, Agencies etc are overwhelmed and mainly telephone or email contact at the moment so can be a delay in contacting.pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Oh, you poor things! First, take a few slow, deep breaths.
I can't answer the questions about a bank account, but I can help with recipe and food ideas. Are you certain that you only have butter and yoghurt in the house? No packets of pasta/rice/some weird grain lurking at the back of the pantry? Please do an audit and list here every item of food, spices, bottles of sauces, etc, that are in the house. What about toiletries and cleaning products?
If you can list everything you have in stock here, we'll come up with some ideas for you, so that you can use up what you have and stretch that £6 as far as it can go. Also, there are some useful links at the start of each month's grocery challenge, in particular look at the bottom of the 9th post. after the recipe index, including a link to the cheapest recipes thread.

Hello mumindesperation, poor you, I am sorry you're in such difficulties.
Like Pip above I can't help with the bank account or the agency payment days question I'm sorry to say but may be able to help with stretching that £6 and what you've got in as far as you can. Her suggestion of a list that we can all look at and then make suggestions about seems a good one to me and I think I've got some ideas about substitutions for ingredients you don't have as well so how about it?
Let us help you over this troubled water and one day soon you'll be the one offering to help someone else.
Hugs and solidarity, goldfinches.
PS let us know what sort of tech you have too, then we can suggest which food sharing apps might be helpful as well.2 -
I I do payroll for a small company and we do like to pay wages into an account in the employee’s name. There is a cut off for wages to be processed and paid, and payroll is only run once a week but in a case like this we would process the wages as normal but not pay them via bank transfer. Instead we would issue a cheque, make a cash advance or make a bank transfer once we knew the details. I’m only dealing with 25 employees so it’s quite easy for me to ‘override’ the system to do this but it would me more difficult with a large number of employees.1

Unfortunate agencies are very strict when it comes to Payroll. Timesheets usually have to be in by a certain time on a certain day and if late they just won’t pay. It may be that they just have too many employees to do so. Does he get paid by BACs and that’s why they can’t do it ok a Thurs?1

Hey @mumindesperation. What happened? How did you cope? Are you OK now or still in dire circumstances? Can we help?
