Hi, I booked Lapland for me and my 6 year old girl plus my sister in law and 2 boys in February to go in December this year through Tui. At that point I didn't have insurance in place. Im due to pay remainder of balance in next 2 weeks. I'm panicking about paying the rest of the balance but losing all the money completely come December. Current guidance for Finland appears to involve 14 day quarantine. I really don't mind if it gets rescheduled for next year or book alternative holiday at a later date. I Just don't want to lose the money. My wife died suddenly on new years eve and it was planned as a surprise for my wee girl to go away this year. I'm undecided whether just to cancel losing the £1000 already paid or just to pay remainder £4000 and take our chances.

  • I think if you don't pay the balance, you lose the deposit. If you pay the balance and they cancel then you can rearrange (or get a refund).
Sorry to hear about your wife btw
Which resort are you going to? We went with TUI a couple of years ago and although the holiday was nice the actual Santa experience was a miserable half arsed affair. Parents arguing with "elves" (TUI reps) after waiting in the cold for three hours was not exactly the magical Christmas we'd hoped for. Probably it was just bad organisation on the day but disapointing nevertheless!

  • Hi there, we are in the same situation, our final payment is due on the 22nd September and I have just spoken to TUI to see what are options are.  It is highly unlikely the dates for next year will be released before the deadline date so we can either lose our deposit, pay the full amount and change later when the dates are available, or amend to a completely different holiday to delay the final payment and then reamend when the dates are out.  The downside of that is we will then need to pay two lots of amendment fees which isn't great. Not sure what to do at the moment.
  • Awww so sad,  but realistically you will have to decide if you want to cancel now and lose your deposit or pay the rest and hope it goes ahead as planned.  Obviously if it doesn't then you would get a refund/rebook but if you cancel now then you will lose the deposit.
