O/S Daily Monday 7 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Misty start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, broc, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be pie, mash, peas and gravy for the menfolk I'll have cold chicken with veg/salad.
Back to work - I worked Saturday and it was very quiet and the scheduled tech upgrade didn't happen but should happen this week - we'll see!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Beautiful sunny day yesterday but back to rain this morning. I had DS1 and the DGC here at the weekend (they are my 'bubble') and we celebrated DGD's birthday, a little late but she enjoyed it anyway. I made a rainbow unicorn cake for her, strangest looking unicorn you can imagine but tasted good! It was huge so sent the remainder home with them.
House now back to normal and I managed to cut the grass last night. The flowers are all in full bloom and the dhalias are particularly stunning, hoping they will last for another few weeks yet.
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX

Morning all
Up early as DH woke me on his way out to work . The sun is shinning and we are supposed to have a mini heatwave for a few days from tomorrow. We have started decorating the stairs and landing all paper stripped and woodwork glossed the carpet man is coming to give me a quote later . We went out for our 1st meal since lockdown with dog walkers and very nice it was too lots of laughs . Right better drink my cuppa and then have a good clean up .
Have a good day whatever you are up to xSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A mild but drab day in store for us, no sun and no rain forecast.
JAYBEE thanks for your opticians review. Your experience sounded much like my neighbours. I know I am in need of new specs but will postpone the eye test a while longer I think!
After the most slothful of days yesterday I must get off my arris today. I plan on the bus to Dunelm on the other side of town this morning. I want "something" for the bathroom window but undecided what. I had a roller blind before but want something different. I'll have a browse and see what appeals to me.. I have the measurements safely in my bag. I want to ring the vets too as soon as they open to try and get an appointment for the Sparkly cat. Her allergy has flared up again. Throughout the lockdown he has been leaving out anti b's and steroids but she fares better on a steroid injection followed by the anti b's so I hope we can get to see him this time.
The M & S meal yesterday was ok but nowt special. And the portion sizes are made for much smaller appetites than mine! Thankfully I had done an assortment of veg to go with it. Maybe the next one I try might be better! It's taught me a lesson though, don't succumb to ready meals again!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe. ROSYRED I am sorry you are now caught up in more stringent restrictions. So many people are choosing to ignore the advice, it's a real worry. x

Good morning, it's gloomy and raining here. I read about that heatwave Bella, hope it reaches us!We had no internet access on our caravan site, and the phone signal was useless so didn't attempt to post while I was away.We got decent phone signals while off the site, so that was something I suppose, you get used to having instant access to everything and everybodyWe had a good few days, well I'm saying that, I had a bit of an upset stomach from greasy fish and chips, I have a dodgy gut anyway and should be more carefulThen I thought my UTI was coming back - got home on Saturday to find a letter from the Drs saying my test showed I needed more anti b's, and hey ho they'd been delivered from the chemist !! I was feeling distinctly groggy by Saturday morning, but the tablets are working and I'm much better.,TA I would agree with you about the portion sizes of ready meals, you're left wondering where the other half is.I should do a bit round the house today now I;m feeling better, so I'll show willing. I'm very hungry because I've hardly eaten since Friday, but will eat carefully and keep off fatty stuff.Hope everyone has a good Monday, take care folks.13

Morning everyone
I don't start work till 12 today so a lazy start to my morning. It was a lovely day here yesterday....had a lovely play outside with little one after her afternoon nap. She spent a lot of time trying to carry 2 footballs at the same time and shouting balls balls balls! Dull this morning and rain forecast for later.
Once I've washed breakfast dishes I'm going to have a walk along to Asda for some bits I need and then read some more of yesterdays paper before work ...it only takes me 10 minutes on my electric bike.
Anyone else looking forward to Eastenders tonight? It seems ages since it was on.
Hope you all have a good day

Good morning folks.Welcome back Scarlett.Yesterday was a glorious day. Unfortunately ( for me) DM slept until almost midday so I missed the best part, however once she was awake, fed and watered, I got myself out very quickly. My orders from JL and M&S were mostly successful apart from a very weird bra which is going back. It's pre-formed foam cups are horrible. The jumpers and long sleeved T-shirts are lovely. This morning I'm off to the garage as my car needs new tyres. Back in February the car had a service when the health check flagged up the need for new tyres in 2,000 miles, it's taken from then to now to reach that. Without lockdown I'd have done that in two or three months. I'm taking a book with me as the garage is not near anything worth going to.On my trip out yesterday I bought a wide-mouthed vacuum flask from Waitrose, the receipt says it has a 50 year guarantee 😂 must be a mistake, surely? Usually JL offer a five year guarantee. I'll phone them later to cheer myself up.Happy Monday to all.13

Morning all, the sun looks a bit watery but there's no rain forecast for here today.I decided to mow the front lawn yesterday morning after all, good job I did as the heavens opened after lunch ! I also dropped the height of the mower and was able to re-do the back one. I find there is something quite satisfying about a newly mown lawn, perhaps I'm just weird ! The edges were done too as I was told by an old gardener once "If you don't have the time to do the edges, then you don't have time to do the lawn ". That conversation has stuck with me for many years. However I didn't get around to doing any weeding before the deluge.Today I must make a birthday card for Mr Fix It for Wednesday, the stuff is all ready I just have to put it together..... unless I change my mind again
There is a loaf to make and the bins to go out too. I will have a rummage in the freezer later for something for tea, don't know what I fancy yet, nothing is tickling my taste buds lately.
Scarlett happy that you had a good time away, but sorry you were poorly too.TA hope you can get through to the vet.dp1 sorry haven't watched it for many years, too much doom and gloom for me. I am enjoying The Coroner though.Gers 50 years ? That would certainly see me outHugs to all the poorly ones.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Morning all and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Dull and cool here but am hoping it might brighten up as I woukd like my bedding to dry.
I have some boring but necessary jobs to do, then carry on making baby clothes.
Other than that, a planless day.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all
Nice bright and sunny here but colder this morning I have a dark wash on the go and it should dry well today, the downstairs will need a quick going over today but its not too bad.
OH has phoned in sick to work his back is so bad he is struggling to walkI have taken him a cuppa and a strong painkiller up so he will let that do its thing and then try to get up, he suffers terribly with his back which comes from being a carpenter for 30+ years.
My new phone is on it way todayso one ive done the jobs and walked the dogs I shall sit and have a play and set everything up, the camera is meant to be excellent so I cant wait to try it.
Might do a cheesy bean pie for dinner with some gammon which I need to put in the sc, a nice hearty meal as it is getting cold in the evenings.
Have good days all xx13 -

I had a fairly disastrous zoom call this morning with no sound for some reason. My computer just doesnt seem to love zoom which is annoying. Back to not much going on now so house it is maybe a venture into the garage later.
