Small business rates relief

The council granted my small business rates relief on 17 August , told me to apply for a grant which I did & they paid me 2 days later and reversed the small business rate relief the day after 20 August . Now they want the grant back . Can they do all this to me ? I have had no other help over the pandemic . Thanks

What reason did the council give for reversing the decision?0

The Council can do this and although the schemes are now closed, will be looking to recoup any awarded in error or identified as fraudulently requested. Did they give a reason for the removal of the small business relief? It seems rather quick to grant the relief and remove it. Records should have been at 11th march 2020 so it seems quite late to be awarding SBRR and a grant. Was the rateable value too high? Was the premises empty? Were there further premises which would have excluded entitlement?0
