Checking electricity meter time

Options
We've recently moved into a house which is on Economy 7 as no gas in the village.  I think the electricity meter is set to the wrong time, the off peak is clear, 12:30 am to 7:30 am, but the 'pointer' which I assume is the current time appears to be hours out.  The attached photo was taken at 21:05, but appears to show 18:45.  Can anyone confirm this? Thank you

That's what it looks like. Very common with these old clockwork meters. Not really a disadvantage though. Your off peak will start at 1.50am and end at 8.50am. So you could get a load of washing done, take a morning shower and reheat the tank, etc, all before peak rate kicks in.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Mine was even worse, it ran at about 60% of normal time and didn't always switch between day and night rate, so every day was a surprise :)
Another reason I was happy to move onto a smart meter.

Thanks, I'd not thought of it that way :)

Just look at the meter and note the times when the arrow switches between Low and Normal.

That depends when the storage heating runs.

The storage heaters will charge when the cheap rate side of the meter kicks in. They won't charge on peak rate. And the heat output should last until later in the evening. Unless the OP regularly needs heating between 12,30pm and 1.50pm, they'e going to be fine.
