Faulty Clutch (Evans Halshaw)

I’m honestly unsure now. I was told both cylinders were replaced at the time - and when I posted a review on their Facebook page, they replied and again confirmed this - however not they’re advising it was just the basic clutch kit that was fitted.AdrianC said:So last year it wasn't the slave that failed, and just the basic friction kit replaced...?
A clutch kit would normally be the three-piece pressure/friction/release bearing. Where the slave is an internal concentric type, like on your Peugeot, then the clutch kit wouldn't normally include it - but it would be a wise precaution to replace it, because of the massive labour saving. On a warranty/CR replacement, I'd have expected the parts to be chargeable.
The master is completely separate, and there's no labour benefit in replacing it at the same time as the slave and friction kit, apart from not having to bleed it all twice.I don’t really understand why they’d lie - possible bad communication from the ‘specialist’ they outsourced the work to? The car was in a state when I received it back, oil over the bodywork and inside of the car - which I don’t think would happen at a reputable clutch specialist. It’s all very odd. I’m waiting for a call back once they have the original invoice from the garage that actually did the work. From memory - they told me at the time that the slave had been replaced, but it hadn’t fixed the issue so they then replaced the master cylinder. This was told to me by Evans Halshaw as a reason to why it was taking 3 weeks to complete the work.Slightly baffled as to what’s happened really.0 -

No such thing. All the "clutch specialists" are no more than fast-fit merchants.Flo2108 said:

Chinese whispers.
They farmed it out a year ago because it wasn't a paying job, and it was cheaper for them to do that than take a ramp out of action for the day.
In a way, it's academic what was done. Because the work was done under warranty, you are in the same position as you would have been had the work not been done last year - there is no added warranty or comeback on the work, because it wasn't chargeable. You have a car that you bought in Feb 2019 at 4+yo, now coming up 6yo, which has had a clutch failure, probably hydraulic. The chances of you getting any goodwill or CRA recompense are slender.1 -
I’m inclined to agree with you. I’ve had the invoice sent now - work done was the basic clutch kit and master cylinder, but not the slave cylinder.AdrianC said:

Slightly annoyed that I was told the slave was replaced and it wasn’t, but it doesn’t change anything really, looks to be mine to be fixed.Appreciate all your replies.0
