link detached neighbours convert garage to gym

We purchased a link detached property two years ago. The neighbours have recently converted the connecting garage to a gym. The wall of the garage / gym is attached to our lounge. The noise is horrendous we can hear metal banging and their groans. We were never consulted by them. Is the conversion legal and will it affect our house value as we now look like a terrace?

People are allowed to lift heavy weights in garages, yes.
You're still as terraced as you were before.4 -
What do you mean by "converted"?
Have they just put gym equipment in their garage? Or have they replaced the door with a wall/window, and lined/plastered/furnished the interior?
There's no planning permission needed to just put gym equipment into a garage.3 -
What do you mean by converted? I'd guess not, but depends what they did.
You could mention the noise to them anyway - they might be more considerate. I used to work out in a gym that asked people not to drop weights to avoid noise for the place below0 -
During my dog walks during lockdown I often heard the sound of loud music from 2 houses being played in the garage where people were exercising. Neither garage had been converted it was just the location they chose to exercise, one on a treadmill the other a family doing an exercise class. Be thankful you can't here their choice of workout music as well.

Will they start going back to the gym now restrictions are lifted? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

From what has been said, no conversion has taken place. They just have gym equipment in the garage like a lot of households do.0
