Underwriters & credit check - Halifax

Agreed. Thinking back it might have not been the broker and couldve been someone processing the application?LMon1 said:That is a bit strange as you have a broker they usually contact the broker. Our full application went in 7th August and its been a nightmare - im just thinking positive that its not a 'decline' as of yet but I have heard of it going to underwriter again then they decline it?
I think youre right, no news is good news! Another long weekend waiting!0 -
My broker resubmitted my application to Halifax after the underwriters flagged it the 1st time round for a discrepancy on my credit file. We sorted what the discrepancy was and sent all evidence and he resubmitted the application. Halifax again accepted the application but it was sent to underwriters for a 2nd time, this was 02/09. My broker called yesterday to say they had now rejected it on affordability. The broker is appealing it, purely on the grounds of it passed all their affordability checks on submitting the application, and on the 1st time with the underwriters it was flagged for a discrepancy, not affordability. So why wasn't it declined on affordability in the 1st instance?
Not too hopeful we'll get anywhere with an appeal but the broker says it means we should get a more detailed reason rather than just "affordability". He has said he'd like to know the reasons because he can't find any reason it would fail himself and wants to know what the reasons are so he's aware of any change in criteria for other clients. 22 working days today and another long wait ahead... Not too hopeful for a positive result from the appeal so will probably need to start all over again!First Time Buyer
