Parking fine at place of work

3 years ago I was parked in the carpark at me place of work and displaying my parking permit. Because the spaces allocated to my firm were small we had agreement to park over the lines as the space next to it wasn't in use. A private parking company was contracted to ticket cars not displaying a permit but they went ahead and ticketed my car. I disputed the ticket and provided emails from the landlord assuring me they had told the firm to cancel the ticket. Having not heard anything for 2 years last week I received a Notice of Proposed Allocation to the small claims track - should I continue to dispute this claim or agree to mediation and settle? Thanks

    Who is the Claimant?

You seem to be saying that you never received a County Court Claim Form

I am finding it difficult to understand how the case can have progressed to a Notice of Proposed Allocation to The Small Claims Track without having filed a Defence and then having completed a Directions Questionnaire.

You need to be following the guidance offered in the second post of the NEWBIES thread where you will see that mediation is not recommended and the reasons why.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up later this year,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these companies, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

  • I think they've filed a "defence", and by all accounts probably actually filed a hybrid defence and WS, plus exhibits

Yes, I think so too, but the OP did say:
Having not heard anything for 2 years... [then suddenly] ...received a Notice of Proposed Allocation to the small claims track

Do you still have access to these emails?
