Ryanair & Loveholidays - We are due to go on holiday soon, but are we???

For once, we did not go down the package route. Last year, we booked our holiday to Gran Canaria with Loveholidays and the flight with Ryan Air. Insurance was booked soon afterwards.
Last week, the balance of the payment due was taken from our Credit Card, so it's all paid for.
We are due to go in a few weeks time and the FCO advises against travel to Spain (Gran Canaria is part of Spain).
We can change the holiday arrangements with Loveholidays, and if the FCO advice remains, then we should expect Loveholidays to contact us.
But, Ryanair is being a law unto itself and not being cooperative.
Because they are flying, they will not refund our money if we cannot go.
We are hoping that Loveholidays does contact us in time and we will happily reschedule. But we don't want to lose the money we paid to Ryanair.
At present, I can see us arriving at the airport not knowing if we are going or not!
What do we do???

Ryanair are quite entitled to take the stance that if the flights operate and you choose not to board then that's disinclination to travel and no refund payable, regardless of FCO advice. In that situation you'd need to check if your insurance would cover you for those losses.1

Sadly one of the situations in which booking a package holiday may have been beneficial (although not necessarily a guarantee if accommodation in Spain up and running also) As your flights are booked separately then all Ryanair are obliged to do is get the flights running. What passengers plan on doing is not their concern.I assume you have checked your insurance policy? If you are not covered, all you can realistically do is wait to see what the situation is nearer the time. Hope flights cancelled? Or FCO advice changes.0

Or a third option is to go on holiday and enjoy it ,you can still purchase additional insurance that will cover you BUT not for covid related issues but then again try getting any insurance that covers covid ,will be like hens teeth or an astronomical price.0

Unfortunately you are in a bit of a pickle, Ryanair have the law on their side and are within their rights to refuse the refund. Try and talk to them (not easy I know) and see if they may just be helpful, but you have no legal leg to stand on with them. Will your travel insurance help you? If bought pre March, then you should be as their is FCO advice against travel.0

Hi there new to the forum, Can you please help. I booked flights with Ryanair on the 20th Dec 2019 to fly out on the
26th Sept 2020. I'm a keyworker and can't afford to self isolate for 14 days when i come back. These flights were booked before Covid pandemic. Will i be due a Refund?0 -
