sorry standard allwence as you are single.
I claimed UC and housing benefits was listed on there, it still exist but part of UC, Just all the old benefits listed under UC .. It says on the breakdown
standard allowence because you single ££££
    Support for child £££
    Housing benefits £££
and if you pay for CM then that will show up.
Yes, help with rent is included in UC, it is called the housing element. It is not Housing benefit. Housing Benefit is a separate benefit and you confuse things if you refer to the housing element of UC as housing benefit.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I just checked and all it says housing.. could not see housing element. Cheers for pointing it out but it just the same as housing benifits, help to pay your rent.

Yes it is effectively the same and indeed the level of support provided is broadly similar. I wasn’t being difficult when picking up on the terminology - it’s just that ‘Housing Benefit’ does mean something else. There are people who can be getting UC and HB (although their UC would not include the housing element in that case).

Oh really?? why that.. as if you come of the old system i thought be UC and all thouse benifets be in UC. I spent hours working out how UC works when i was seperated.. as i was worried that i could not support my child.
I even knew when i get a bounes every march i knew i had to keep it all, as the following month my entitlement will be zero.. (I turly thinks that unfair as i would off used it to take us on holiday).

People who live in supported accommodation still get help with rent through a HB not UC even though they may be claiming UC for the basic allowance. Obviously this only applies to a relatively small number of people.

  • Sorry to hear of your separation, I am in exactly the same situation.

i spoke to citizens advice yesterday and you CAN claim UC whilst you and your ex are still living together . You have to be able to prove that you are living separate lives (like a shared student house ) but I have been advised that it is definitely possible. This is what CAB sent me:
    Separate Household

Whether you and another person should be treated as members of the same household is decided on the particular facts of your case . If you think you should not be treated as a member of the same household as someone check that you can show that you maintain separate households:

Independent arrangements for storing and cooking food or separate eating arrangements
    Independent Financial arrangements
    No evidence of family life

If you are separated from your partner but living under the same roof, you should not be treated as a couple if you are maintaining separate households.

Decisions on whether you are living together can consider:

    1) Household arrangements
    2) Financial Arrangements
    3) Sexual relationship
    4) Stable relationship
    5) Children
    6) How you appear in public.

If you disagree with a decision that a decision maker comes to you can challenge by asking for a mandatory reconsideration.
