Cleaning a small engine air filter

thought I’d ask in this section as most likely get an answer. I’ve got a petrol compactor plate, with a copy of a Honda GX120 engine. The air filter is a kind of metal honeycomb frame with a concertina paper element, covered by a foam sleeve (if you search ‘GX120 air filter’ you’ll see the type)
how do i I clean it please? Some say compressed air the paper internals and wash the foam fleece in hot water, and others say to clean the paper/honeycomb main part and soak it in engine oil and allow it to dry?
No manual with it - but I do know the air filter needs a clean - help

For the few quid they cost, why not just replace it?1
