How many suppliers now charge in advance?

Wobbly_Bob said:Sorry to raise this again, but...So my last supplier also charged in advance, which means the DD which came out 1st of month (just before my switch) means that despite them knowing the changeover date, they still charged me for a months (-1 day) energy. Now, pls correct me if i'm wrong, but since they apparently get 6 weeks to create a final bill, surely that means that potentially, (unless i cancel the DD) they could bill me again for another months energy, even though i'm no longer with them!
It took them 9 weeks to produce the final bill ,so potentially they could have owed me £175.
On previous switches ,I have cancelled the DD directly the distributors' web sites showed that I had changed supply. I've had a few Cos. complain that I'd cancelled the DD but as I was either in credit ,or owed them a very small amount, I've refused to reinstate.0 -
Ta for the info brewerdave.I'll prolly give them another 2 weeks, and then if no final bill, cancel before the possibility of another DD.0
