How many suppliers now charge in advance?

Yup - which is why I manually calculate my final bill and cancel the DD EVEN IF I have a small balance to pay off. In a recent move away from Avro ,I calculated I would owe ~ £35 on changeover day (vs a DD of £105 due out about 14 days after).
It took them 9 weeks to produce the final bill ,so potentially they could have owed me £175.
On previous switches ,I have cancelled the DD directly the distributors' web sites showed that I had changed supply. I've had a few Cos. complain that I'd cancelled the DD but as I was either in credit ,or owed them a very small amount, I've refused to reinstate.

I'll prolly give them another 2 weeks, and then if no final bill, cancel before the possibility of another DD.
